In Malton, a small suburban college town in Pennsylvania, nothing much ever happens. That is, until Malton University's medical center becomes ground zero for the outbreak of an unknown virus. As doctors and scientists scramble to identify it, the lethal strain, known as "GULA", escapes the quarantine and rampages throughout the city, plunging it into chaos. No one is immune to the spread of the deadly plague, and soon the entire city is evacuated and sealed off in an attempt to save the remaining populace.

Trapped inside the quarantine zone, cut off from the rest of the world, a small group of survivors tries to hold on until help arrives. But interpersonal conflicts and the strain of basic survival pale in comparison to the gathering danger they will soon face - the ravenous, unstoppable infected left inside the quarantine...
